About IIT-JEE
IIT-JEE preparation
The Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) is a highly competitive and prestigious examination that serves as the gateway to the renowned Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Divided into two stages, JEE Main and JEE Advanced, the exam rigorously evaluates candidates' understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. JEE Main, conducted by the National Testing Agency, acts as the preliminary stage, with successful candidates advancing to JEE Advanced, where the top 2.5 lakh aspirants compete for limited seats in the IITs. The success in IIT-JEE not only represents academic prowess but also opens doors to a world-class engineering education and lucrative career opportunities, making it a defining milestone for students aspiring to excel in the field of technology and innovation in India.
IIT-JEE overview
The Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) is one of the most prestigious and competitive exams in India for admission to undergraduate engineering programs at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Here is a comprehensive overview:
Exam Structure:
Two-Stage Examination: IIT-JEE comprises two stages - JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
JEE Main:
The first stage is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and serves as the preliminary exam for various engineering colleges across India. It is held twice a year, usually in January and April.
JEE Advanced:
Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) is a national level engineering entrance exam conducted by seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB) every year, for admissions to 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). JEE Advanced is the second stage of JEE.
Eligibility Criteria:
Age Limit:
General category candidates must be 25 years or younger on October 1 of the admission year. There is a relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
Educational Qualification:
Candidates should have passed their 12th standard examination or its equivalent in the year preceding the admission year or should be appearing for the exam in the same year.
JEE Main:
JEE Main is the preliminary exam for IIT-JEE.
It consists of two papers - Paper 1 for B.Tech/B.E. admissions and Paper 2 for B.Arch/B.Planning admissions.
The exam covers subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
The scores of JEE Main are used for admission to various engineering colleges across India, including NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs.
JEE Advanced:
Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
JEE Advanced is more challenging and is designed to assess the in-depth knowledge and problem-solving skills of candidates.
The exam is conducted in two papers, each covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
The performance in JEE Advanced determines the admission to the various undergraduate programs at the IITs.
Counselling and Admission:
After the declaration of JEE Advanced results, candidates need to participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling for seat allocation in IITs and other participating institutes.
The counseling process includes filling choices, seat allocation, and document verification.
IIT-JEE Preparation:
Aspiring candidates usually start preparing for IIT-JEE well in advance, often during their 11th and 12th standard.
Coaching institutes, self-study, and online resources are commonly used for preparation. The counseling process includes filling choices, seat allocation, and document verification.
IIT-JEE is known for its rigor, and success in this exam opens doors to some of the best engineering institutes in India, providing opportunities for high-quality education and promising career prospects. It remains a benchmark for excellence in the field of engineering education in the country.
